Western Zone

51% of the country’s total coffee is grown in this region

  • It occupies the 1st place as a geographical coffee producing area.
  • 71,400 hectares are cultivated with coffee trees.
  • The estimated population is 1.542 million inhabitants.
  • Its surface area is 4,489 km².
  • It is made up of three departments: Ahuachapán, Santa Ana and Sonsonate.

Central Zone II

28% of the country’s total coffee is grown in this region

  • It is the second largest coffee-producing region in the world.
  • 39,200 hectares are cultivated with coffee trees.
  • The estimated population is 1.938 million inhabitants.
  • Its surface area is 7,937 km².
  • It is made up of six departments: Chalatenango, La Paz, La Libertad, Cabañas, San Vicente and Cuscatlán.

Eastern Zone

17% of the country’s total coffee is grown in this region

  • It is the 3rd largest coffee-producing region in the world.
  • 23,800 hectares are cultivated with coffee trees.
  • The estimated population is 1.609 million inhabitants.
  • Its surface area is 7,728 km².
  • It is made up of four departments: Morazán, Usulután, San Miguel and La Unión.
