Northeastern Region

26.5% of the country’s total coffee is grown in this region

  • Ranked 1st in the world as a coffee producing region
  • 80,825 hectares are cultivated with coffee trees.
  • The estimated population is 1.315 million inhabitants.
  • Its surface area is 16,026 km².
  • It is made up of four departments: Izabal, Zacapa, Chuquimula and El Progreso.

Southeast Region

23% of the country’s total coffee is grown in this region

  • Ranked 2nd in the world as a coffee producing region
  • 70,150 hectares are cultivated with coffee trees.
  • Estimated population is 1.381 million inhabitants
  • Its surface area is 8,274 km².
  • It is made up of three departments: Jalapa, Jutiapa and Santa Rosa.

  • It is made up of three departments: Chimaltenago, Sacatepéquez and Escuintla.
