Western Province

33.30% of the country’s total coffee is cultivated in this region

  • Ranked 1st in the world as a coffee producing region
  • 11,951 hectares are cultivated with coffee trees.
  • The estimated population is 2.471 million inhabitants.
  • Its surface area is 5,833 km².
  • It is made up of three districts: Gisenyi, Kibuye and Cyangugu.

Southern Province

31.18% of the country’s total coffee is grown in this region

  • Ranked 2nd in the world as a coffee producing region
  • 11,190 hectares are cultivated with coffee trees.
  • The estimated population is 2.59 billion inhabitants.
  • Its surface area is 5,963 km².
  • It is made up of three districts: La Guajira, Córdoba, Magdalena, Atlántico, Bolívar and Sucre.

Eastern Province

24.47% of the country’s total coffee is cultivated in this region

  • Occupies the 3rd place as a coffee producing province
  • 8,782 hectares are cultivated with coffee trees.
  • Estimated population is 2,600 inhabitants.
  • Its surface area is 9,813 km².
  • It is made up of three districtsUmutara, Kibungo and Kigali Rural.

Northern Province

10.16% of the country’s total coffee is grown in this region

  • Occupies the 4th place as a coffee producing province
  • 3,646 hectares are cultivated with coffee trees
  • The estimated population is 1,726 million inhabitants

  • It is made up of two districts: Ruhengeri and Byumba
