Our recent visit to Nicaragua marked a new chapter in the development of the Young Coffee Legacy Project<\/a>, as part of our spring tour through Central America. Nicaragua is one of those origins where relationships with producers have grown stronger over time, allowing us to work with depth and precision in the ongoing improvement of the coffees we offer to our roasters.\n Let me know if you’d like versions for press, social media, or internal reporting. Quality that evolves with our partners<\/h2>\n\n

Since the end of last year, thanks to fluid communication with our partners, we knew in advance the availability, quality and volume of Coffee we could expect this season. This forecast allowed us to act quickly in the optimization of recipes, the industrialization of some processes and, above all, to reinforce the fundamental pillars of the project: education and community building. <\/p>\n\n

One of the key moments was the joint work with the team from the Segovia Coffee<\/em> Quality Control Laboratory<\/strong>, our trusted partner in Nicaragua. We conducted calibration sessions with coffees of different origins, Processes and Harvests, which allowed us to analyze how factors such as time or the processing method affect the Flavour profile. These exercises not only enrich technical knowledge, but also strengthen the relationship between partners, increasing the quality of communication and mutual understanding. <\/p>\n\n

Direct connection with Producers<\/h3>\n\n

This year we had the opportunity to spend more time with long-established growers and also with new Producers who are beginning to experiment with our Processes. We visited farms in Mozonte, the highest area of Nueva Segovia, and spent full days at Agua Sarca<\/g>, the farm that gives its name to our star Deneb<\/g>. There, together with Carlos D\u00e1vila<\/g>, head of production and a key figure in our work in Nicaragua, we strengthened the human and technical bond that sustains the project. Carlos, certified in Q-processing intermediate level, is a local reference that transmits knowledge and passion to those who join this coffee community. <\/p>\n\n

<\/p>\n\n

Education for the Future of Coffee<\/h3>\n\n

One of the most significant milestones was the start of the Educational Project<\/strong> in collaboration with the Coffee School of the Ocotal Technology Center<\/strong>. During a session of almost three hours, we shared with young students the complete coffee journey: from the Farm to the final consumer. Cultivation, processing, export, logistics, roasting, marketing and preparation were some of the topics covered to show them the richness and diversity of the professional world of Coffee. <\/p>\n\n

These kinds of gatherings, which will be held regularly, aim to inspire new generations and show that coffee is not only a tradition, but also a future opportunity. In Nicaragua, as in many producing countries, generational renewal is one of the major challenges\u2014and at Mare Terra Coffee, we\u2019re committed to being an active part of the solution <\/p>\n\n

The balance of this trip is profoundly positive. We have met the objectives set and have taken a firm step forward in the development of our relationships at source. Together with our partners, we are building a solid, committed and forward-looking internal community. <\/p>\n\n

During our visit to Nicaragua in the spring of 2023, we took a decisive step in the development of the Coffee Heritage project. We strengthened collaboration with local Producers, worked on improving quality processes and began a series of educational meetings with young people from the Ocotal Technology Center.
