The Rianjagi Washing station is located in the Embu coffee region, in the Manyatta Sub County district. It was built in 1976 and, since then, both the station and the Cooperative have been owned by the local Producers themselves, who deliver their cherries here for processing. The Cooperative offers them support in inputs, agricultural training and accompaniment in the commercialization of their coffees.
The Farms of these Producers are located between 1,650 and 1,800 meters above sea level, with an approximate area of one hectare each. The main varieties grown are Ruiru 11, SL 28, SL 34 and Batian.
Farmers hand-pick the cherries at their optimum ripening point and deliver them to the Washed station.
Rianjagi’s Washed station is managed by Newton Njagi, who is responsible for ensuring that all processes run efficiently.
