Green Field Project
From field to community
Why was the project born?
Green Field was born from a reality that we see every time we travel to origin:People who work in the coffee chain live intense seasons, with a lot of physical and mental effort, and very few spaces for disconnection, play and personal care.
Through sports, we create moments of pause within this rhythm: playful, healthy and community spaces where Producers, Washed station teams, collectors, families and collaborators can meet from another place: that of shared play.
We have already organized soccer matches in El Salvador, Nicaragua and Colombia, and the next step has been a race in Kenya between Washed stations, linking different coffee communities… step by step, kilometer by kilometer.
Our goal is simple and at the same time profound: that Coffee not only connects cups, but also people, bodies and communities.
Project objectives
The main objective of Green Field is to generate community and well-being among the people that form part of the coffee chain at origin, using sports as a common language.
Through games, training and races we want to:
- Create spaces for disconnection during the coffee campaign, away from the pressure of everyday life.
- Promote healthy habits and the physical and emotional care of those who support coffee growing.
- To reinforce the sense of belonging to a united coffee community, beyond farms and Washed stations.
- Encourage a mix of profiles: young people, women, Producers, quality teams, profit personnel, exporters... all on the same playing field.
- To turn sports into an excuse to listen to real needs and continue building impact projects together with our partner communities.
To whom it is addressed
Coffee communities at origin
People who work day to day in the Coffee industry: in the Farm, in the Washed station, in the mill or in local logistics.
Green Field is designed for them, as a respite from the campaign and a different way to meet their own community.
Crews, quality teams, production managers, administrative personnel...
Matches and races become a meeting point where hierarchies disappear: on the field everyone plays as equals.
Young and new generations of coffee growers
Sports are a natural bridge to youth. Through these activities, we want young people to feel proud to be part of the Coffee world and see it as a living, close and collective space.
Project allies and partners
Green Field is also open to roasters, partners and organizations that want to get involved in social projects at source. Sport becomes a tangible way to support the well-being of the communities we work with.
Where it is applied
Nicaragua
In Nicaragua, the sporting events have served to strengthen relations with local Producers and teams.
The ball becomes a point of connection: on the field everyone shares more than just coffee; they share time, effort and celebration.
Colombia
In Colombia, Green Field has allowed us to get even closer to coffee families and work teams through the game. The games have been a perfect excuse to create community and hear, first hand, how people live day-to-day life at home.
El Salvador
Football matches between coffee mills and local communities
In El Salvador we have organized soccer matches that have brought together teams from different benefits and communities. More than a scoreboard, we care about the conversations that take place after the match: laughter, anecdotes and new bonds between people who work the same Coffee from different places.
Kenya
Running race between washing stations
Green Field came to Kenya with a run between Washing stations.
A route that connected key points of the coffee chain and that will set producers, processing teams and local communities in motion.
A symbolic and real way of demonstrating that, when we talk about coffee, we all run in the same direction.
