The World of Coffee, organized by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), is the leading coffee event in Europe. This meeting brings together thousands of specialty coffee professionals and enthusiasts for three days.

In 2024, the event will be held in Copenhagen, a vibrant city in the heart of Scandinavia. As always, we will be present with many activities organized at our stands.

As every year, our team has prepared several tastings so that you can visit our stand, taste and buy the coffees developed by our R&D Department and our partners in origin of the new harvests from Africa and Central America.

The Mare Terra Coffee team will be at the stand to help you with everything you need. Here is the agenda for the tastings, we look forward to seeing you!

MTC & Partners Activities

As a perfect Match for the Tastings we bring these activities that are classics in our Stand, do not resist and sign up to participate, as places are limited.

The 3rd edition of this contest is here and once again this year we are organizing it together with our partner BESTBrew.

What does it consist of?
12 participants will receive a sample of 200 grams of roasted Coffee from our Constellations Range, on the table they will have several filter methods and will be able to choose one to prepare their drink.

Three judges will taste blind in order to determine the winner.

Another of our activities, which cannot miss edition after edition, is the Memory Match.
In this activity there will be 2 tables with 6 thermoses each, the 12 competitors will have to match the two coffees that are the same and classify them by origin, Process and type of fermentation.

The prize? One place for the PRE Open de Cata that we will organize at WOC on Saturday 29/06, don’t miss this opportunity!

In each edition of the WOC we organize together with Daterra Coffee an activity in which we pair a selection of their most outstanding coffees with local flavors from the host country.

This year, we are pairing Daterra Coffee coffees with local craft beer. The Daterra team will tell us about the processes with which they have developed the coffees for the tasting and the local guest brewer will explain the processes and fermentations of their beers.

In total there will be 7 different Profiles that you will be able to find in the Coffee and beers.

We certainly believe in the collaborations, activities and teamwork we do with our customers, partners, colleagues, friends…homies!

Relationships with our partners and customers are very important to us, developing activities, working together, advising us and bringing together the different players in the coffee chain are some of our objectives, which is why this year we are giving them a space in the Roaster Village (Stand 37).
At this booth you will be able to chat and drink some of the best filter coffees and espresso of the event with our MTC HOMIES ¡Come and say hello!

3. Roast Rumble

Giesen (Stand CD 17)

We present the second edition of the Roast Rumble, analternative coffee roasting championship organized by Mare Terra Coffee and Giesen Coffee Roasters, on June 27th and 28th.

Ten participants will have to roast their batches of green coffee in the Giesen W1R electric roaster, a team of judges with a great track record will be in charge of selecting the best cup.

Awards:

1st Prize: Lot of 5 kilos of Coffee from MTC’s Uniques Range of +90 points + Giesen gift pack.

2nd Prize: Set of 10 roasted samples of TOP 10 MTC coffees + Giesen gift pack.

3rd Prize: Set of 5 roasted samples of TOP 10 MTC coffees + Giesen gift pack.

Daniela Capuano

Growing up between the coffee trees at her grandparents farm in Brazil, Daniela has coffee literally in her DNA. Now Based in Paris, with her own consultancy firm, she is one of France’s first Q Graders, Co-founder of Momus-Paris, and holds the title of “Un des Meilleurs Ouvriers de France (MOF)

Axel Simon

Axel was the barista champion of Spain in the championships organized by the Specialty Coffee Association in 2017 and represented Spain in the World Barista Championship in Seoul, South Korea, that same year He is a licensed Q-Grader for Arabica and Robusta and an AST (Authorized SCA Trainer) for the SCA in the Brew and Green Coffee modules.
He currently serves as the director of QLab at Mare Terra Coffee, leading a team focused on research, quality, and innovation in the world of specialty coffee

Teodora Pitiș

Teodora is the mastermind behind Sloane Coffee in Bucharest Romania, and the first Female Q grader in Romania. Plays an Integral part in the local coffee community and abroad

4. Pre Open de Cata 202 4

Cupping Room 1

The Open de Cata is a unique and different coffee tasting championship that combines the modalities of free tasting, sensory memory and triangulation that we organize every year in Barcelona in October.

This year, on the occasion of the WOC Copenhagen, we organize the Pre OPEN DE CATA, a round of tastings, previous selection and classification that will lead you to participate in the Open de Cata. If you like tasting and you like to compete, this is your championship, places are limited, sign up!

Saturday 29/06

11:30 – 12:00h: PRESENTATION

Presentation of the new projects developed by the R&D Department, explanation of the rules and regulations and registration in the Survey for participation.

12:00 – 12:50h: CALIBRATION & SENSORY MEMORY

Calibration: Blind tasting of eight fantastic coffees prepared with filter method in which the participants will answer a form, where they will mark profiles, processes, origins, among others.

Sensory Memory: Here the participants will have to recognize and associate the coffees they have tasted in the calibration phase.

12:50 – 13:30h: COMMENTS AND COMPARISON OF RESULTS

Participants will see the global answers on the screen versus the corresponding Coffee card, and will also receive their own scored results(1 point for a correct answer in Calibration and 2 points for a correct answer in Sensory Memory).

13:30 – 14:30h : PUBLIC CUPPING

Tasting session where all attendees will have the opportunity to taste and buy the best coffees of Mare Terra Coffee in 2024.
