Andrés Salaverría is the fifth generation of a coffee family with more than 100 years of history in El Salvador. He has been linked to coffee since he was a child, accompanying his father to the mill and actively participating in the family business. In 2011, after completing the Ernesto Illy Master’s Degree in Coffee Science and Economics, Andrés returned to the country and focused on the commercial, industrial and administrative management of the farms, working together with his father, José Antonio Salaverría, who leads the agricultural management.
The family manages farms in Atiquizaya, Concepción de Ataco, Jayúa and Apaneca, always with an eye towards diversification and the incorporation of new trends in processes.
Farm San Francisco, located near La Majada in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec region, is one of the most representative. Fertile volcanic soils, full shade and a Harvest based on selective picking of ripe cherries are part of its focus on quality. In addition, the Farm is home to a natural forest reserve, donated to the National Forestry Association of El Salvador, and develops community support programs in health and education.
Andrés’s work reflects a balance between tradition and contemporary vision. His international experience and technical training have been key to strengthening the value proposition of family-owned Coffee, bringing structure and focus to the commercialization of high quality micro-lots. Thanks to his leadership, today the family business is prepared to respond to the demands of the global market, always maintaining its commitment to quality, traceability and sustainable development at each stage of the chain.
