Cup of Excellence and the latest results

Today we want to talk to you about the Cup Of Excellence – Alliance for Coffee Excellence (ACE) or maybe some of you are more familiar with the name given to this competition in South America ‘Cup of Excellence’.

WHAT IS THE CUP OF EXCELLENCE?

Cup of Excellence is the most prestigious competition and auction of high quality coffees worldwide.

The COE program was created in 1999 and has since set the standard for increasing the premiums farmers have been able to receive for their coffees.

COE raises funds for Coffee producers in coffee growing countries, incentivizing and motivating Producers who know that they can have a financial reward and recognition for their hard work and efforts.

ACE is a non-profit organization based in the U.S.A., currently between 10 and 12 producing countries participate in the ‘Cup of Excellence.Currently between 10 and 12 Producer countries participate in the Cup of Excellence.

The competition is very rigorous, with tasting evaluations conducted over a three-week process by industry experts: first by a National Jury of approximately twelve qualified judges from the country of origin, and then an International Jury, composed of about 25 experienced judges from around the world.

Each cup of ‘Top 10’ Coffee is tasted at least 120 times.

The Coffee with more than 86 points are the finalists for the COE auction, a maximum of 30 coffees can participate in this modality.A maximum of 30 coffees can participate in this modality.

The Mug of Excellence has been a pioneer in integrity and transparency in the coffee industry, ensuring the value of winning coffees. Each sample that enters the competition process is assigned a number known only to the auditor for each competition, and each member of the jury tastes the coffee blind. SOME OF THE FINALISTS OF THE CUP OF EXCELLENCE 2023

During the last few months some of the countries participating in the Cup of Excellence have qualified with their best coffees that they have offered to the world.

Here are the results of the first place winners and buyers of the auctions of these lots.

THAILAND

The winning Coffee from Thailand was a coffee from the Hmong Biofarm Farm produced by WIchai Kammnerdmonhkon from the Honey Process and the Java, Catimor, Typica and Yellow Bourbon Varietals.

The SCA Score was 91.13.

GUATEMALA

The winning coffee from Guatemala was a Coffee from the El Socorro Farm produced by Cercol S.L. using the Washed Process and the Geisha Variety.

The SCA Score was 91.13.

The COE auction has already taken place and the buyer of the first lot has been the Taiwanese company Fica Coffee.

NICARAGUA

The winner of the Nicaragua Cup of Excellence was a coffee harvested in the coffee region of Nueva Segovia, specifically in the Farm Los Alpes and cultivated by the company Inversiones Valladares Acevo S.A., the lot of Process Natural and the Variety Geisha obtained a score of 91.6 SCA points, the buyer of this lot in the auction of the COE 2023 already held was Snow Bean Coffee from Japan.

EL SALVADOR

The winner of the Cup of Excellence of Nicaragua has been a coffee harvested in the Coffee region of Alotepec – Metapan, specifically in the Mileydi Farm, its producer is Norelvia Angelica Elias de Diaz, the batch of Semi Washed Process and the Variety Pacamara has obtained a score of 91.82 SCA points, the buyer of this lot in the auction of the COE already made has been the company Orsir of Taiwan.

COSTA RICA

The winning coffee from Guatemala was a coffee from the El Cedro San Isidro Labrador Farm produced by Johel Monge Naranjo in the Coffee region of Los Santos. This batch of the Honey Process and the Geisha Variety obtained a score of 91.08 SCA points.

The COE auction has already been held and the buyer of the first lot has been Orsir Company of Taiwan.

HONDURAS

The winning COE coffee from Honduras was a coffee from the Pino de Oro Farm produced by Oscar Edgardo Tinoco in the Santa Barbara coffee region. This batch of Natural Process and Pacamara Variety obtained a score of 91.78 SCA points.

The auction has already taken place and the buyer of the first lot was Coffee Libre from South Korea.

MEXICO

Coffee from the Las Nieves Farm produced by Gustavo Boltjes Rising in the San Juan Lachao region is the first classified with a score of 91 points, with this lot of Geisha variety and Natural process.

The buyer of this lot at auction was Proud Mary from Australia.
